Yes, its that time again...Mother's Day. For mother's day dinner, our family went to Ginza's Yonge/Steeles location as my dad knows the franchise owner relatively well. The meal started with the usual Japanese miso soup and salad. But things got interesting and quite delicious as the rest of the stuff came.
First up was a sashimi platter. Just the usual with some fancy umi (sea urchin), but the most delectable pieces were the toro, which were fatty bluefin tuna belly. The oily flesh was very flavourful and almost melts in your mouth. I would eat it more often if they weren't $90 per pound at wholesale price or $5/piece (no brag).
Next course was fresh lobster tail sashimi. The claws were made into lobster tempura rolls with mango and butter sauce.
There were also the usual rolls. I dont remember what they were called. One had avocado inside and the other had bbq eel. Topped with salmon and tuna.
The lobster carcass and brains(?) were then simmered into a lobster broth served with udon noodles.
Last but not least, their specialty dessert was a brown sticky rice treat topped with coconut milk and mango slices.
Overall, it was a very delightful meal. The food was excellent and prices were also very reasonable considering what was eaten. I will definitely revisit this or one of their other locations in the future.
